The reflection of snow-capped mountain peaks on the icy surface of Amethyst Lake will make you want to drink in a long, crisp breath and feel the relaxation flowing through you. Christmas Meadows is loosely ringed with mountains. This wild area is a perfect winter playground for Bear River Lodge to welcome guests.

Where to Stay

Bear River Lodge offers visitors to the Uinta Mountains the chance to walk out on their private deck, coffee in hand, and watch the Bear River roll by.  The one, two or five-bedroom luxury cabins have everything a couple or family would need to enjoy a mountain retreat.  Full kitchens, gas-log fireplaces, and huge windows provide all the comforts of home and more.

What to Do

The rugged mountains and plenty of snow make Bear River Lodge a vast white playground with miles of snowmobiling opportunities. Snowmobiles can be rented as a cabin/snowmobile package. Keep the snowmobile all day, or keep it overnight.

There are also miles of cross-country skiing opportunities. Lily Lake Cross Country Ski Trail runs from your cabin across 30 groomed miles. Did I mention that ski rentals are available on-site? If skiing is not your thing, or the little ones can’t really keep up – how about a fun activity for any age? Snow-tubing is a great way to speed down a slick, icy hill on a tube. There is a snow tube hill located on the property. It is so convenient to bundle up the kids and spend the day flying over the snow.

Those seeking some solace and quiet time alone are in for a treat. Unita-Wasatch-Cache National Forest has ample places to snowshoe.  Snowshoe rentals are available on-site. Just strap them on and start walking. Ice fishing can also be a solitary sport, or you can take your friends along. For your convenience, augers and poles are available for rent. Fish all day or just a few hours. Catch and release or keep your big ones for a fee. When your frozen bones seek relief from the cold, sink into a hot tub and let the water soothe you.

Whether you choose to play in the powder or just snuggle up and watch the snow from a cabin window, Bear River Lodge has just what you need. Come and explore Uinta’s mountain playground this year at Bear River Lodge.
