A New Temple!

Four years after its announcement, the brand new Star Valley LDS Temple is complete and sure to become a top tourist attraction in the area. It provides an incredible backdrop for family photos as well as a quiet place to meditate. Star Valley, Wyoming is a must-see destination; gorgeous and unspoiled, especially in winter. The temple, the first in Wyoming, is located east of U.S. Highway 89 on the Haderlie Farm property south of Afton.

Plenty of Winter Fun in Star Valley!

Star Valley, Wyoming becomes a winter wonderland for everyone who loves playing in the snow.

There are packed trails for cross country skiing ranging in difficulty from novice to advanced on most golf courses in the valley.

If you prefer to blaze your own trail, there is plenty of opportunity and country to do so throughout the area.

For the thrill seeker who loves to feel the rush of biting wind at higher speeds, there are over 350 miles of groomed forest service trails in the area.

You may want to make the small town of Alpine, Wyoming your base.  It’s located between Jackson Hole and the new LDS Temple in Afton.  Alpine offers affordable restaurants and accommodations with over 40 feet of annual snowfall!  It’s nestled at the convergence of the Grey, Salt and Snake rivers and  surrounded by steep, rugged mountains with spectacular views and plentiful wildlife.

Outdoor enthusiasts come from all around the globe to ice fish on the Palisades reservoir and snowmobile on the award winning groomed trails.  This area boasts a 150 mile section of trails named top five in the west by Snow West magazine. There are hundreds of miles of virgin, un-groomed trails for the more adventurous soul.

Elk Refuge

A couple of miles south of Alpine, Wyoming you can view the magnificent elk herd managed by Wyoming fish and game department.  The herd varies in size between 700-1000 head each year.

Cutter Racing

Star Valley is home to the All American Cutter Racing Association.  Races are run every Saturday afternoon  from the first of December to the end of February.

The racers themselves love the sport but on these Saturdays you will see a lot of sacrifice, a lot of endurance and a lot of fun.
